Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal can take pride from their UEFA Champions League last 16 second-leg victory over AC Milan.

The Gunners, who were said to be in crisis only a few weeks ago, came close to a historic fightback against the Serie A leaders as they recorded a 3-0 win at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal were still knocked out by Milan after a 4-3 aggregate defeat, having paid the price for their nightmare performance at the San Siro in February, but Wenger was still content.

Three goals from Laurent Koscielny, Tomas Rosicky and a Robin van Persie penalty marked an epic first half, however, an injury-hit Arsenal ran out of steam in the second half.

"We suffered a little bit when we got tired in the second half. We were a bit more fatigued. I'm sure we would have scored two or three more goals in the second half."
